# Find Bar

Type a word and press Enter to step. ⌘E finds a selection.

a browser's find in page over a short page of prose. type and every match lights up, enter steps through them, and the scrollbar marks where each one is.

key insight: the matches are painted with the css custom highlight api, so no text is wrapped in a span. a match can cross an element, and the current one is the only drawn box, gliding from match to match.

matching ignores case and accents, so `cafe` finds café and `zoe` finds zoë. a match in the shut notebook at the foot opens it, the way a browser opens a `<details>`.
