a pocket of paper. hovering fans the cards out and tilts the front panel forward, hovering one singles it out, and clicking grows it to the middle of the stage.

key insight: hover is answered by hit-testing the fan's neutral geometry, never the DOM. a card that moves because it was hovered moves out from under the pointer, the hover drops, the card falls back and the fan flickers. reading the boxes with nothing hovered means a hover cannot change the geometry that decides it.

a card is staged by animating width, never scale: 113px to 322px would paint its 1px hairline at 3px. contents are cqw against the card, but cqw on the card itself resolves against the stage, which inflated every card past twice its size before it was found.
