Folder Stack

a drawer of card index folders, eight tabs deep. hovering pulls that one folder up out of the pile.

key insight: the reveal is occlusion. every card is the same box in the same place and exactly one translateY moves, so the hovered card comes out from behind the card in front of it and there is nothing to fade, mount or measure.

the lift is a whole number of rows, and three of them. at any other value the lifted card's paper edge lands part way through a tab behind it and slices it, which reads as a rendering fault rather than as one card in front of another.
