Tether Button
A button pressed from a distance. The cursor shoots a web at the button's nearest edge, and the button goes down when the web lands rather than when the mouse does. Hold it and the strand pays out, hangs slack as the hand comes closer, and falls as it snaps back on release.
Key insight: one clamp into the button's rect, inset by its own radius, gives the nearest point on its boundary and also answers whether a press landed on the button at all. The anchor is then fixed, or the splat slides around the edge and stops reading as stuck.
The strand is two mirrored threads wound around a spine, one quadratic per half lobe. They ride the spine's local normal, so slack bends the spine and the twist follows it round instead of staying square to a straight axis.
The hands are OpenMoji glyphs, emoji as artwork rather than as a text glyph. Each pairs the black set's outline with the colour set's skin shape, since a stroke-only hand is transparent and the label read straight through it.
